LEADERSHIP

Ashley Woodcock, M.Ed.

Founder and Executive Director
Ashley is the founder and Executive Director for PWI. Ashley spent much of her early career working with families and children involved in Child Welfare in various capacities. In witnessing the disempowerment and isolation experienced by this population, Ashley’s work has always emphasized encouraging empowerment through building authentic relationships. The mission of PWI was born from this belief and this approach and is alive and well within the agency mission and the culture of PWI today.

At PWI, leadership begins with a deep and personal investment in our mission: building strong connections for healthy communities. Our leaders not only understand this mission — they embody it in their daily work and help those they supervise internalize and apply it as well. Leadership at PWI means helping others develop the perspective and lens necessary to embrace our values and approach in their work with clients and colleagues.

The people and the work environment are what makes coming to work so enjoyable. Having worked in several nonprofits doing direct service work, I have learned that your community and work environment is what makes or breaks your ability to continue working there. Burnout is huge in social work, but Ashley, the ED of PWI, works very hard to ensure that people can earn a living wage, feel supported by their supervisors and co-workers, and that the work itself is meaningful so people enjoy coming to work and want to stay.
